once again I was working on the world class crappy digital drawing application called facebook graffiti. This time an elephant. I used a reference: [link]
I did change it a little though. Obviously. And I obviously got lazy with the BG. :P
Just comments please, this is not working I can change and I put very little effort into this.

if any, this style is photo realism, and you called it your "artwork". You contradict yourself, and I don't believe you can really live up to your words on OMM. I am disappointed.

lol. this is no where near realism. this is stylized. this is similar to the photo i referenced, which i think is fine. however, i changed it. i made it my own. i did not aim to make every last detail the same. i changed the bg. and please check back on the bulletin i made on OMM. and please, read it again slowly and carefully, i feel as though you missed some of my points judging by the reply you made on the bulletin, and on the comment you made here. :)

if by "made it my own" you mean tried to remake the picture unsuccesfully, then i agree, because that is what the "art" you produced looks like, and in the end its the work you've created that shows your opinion and your life, not your words.

i don't try to remake a picture. that's not art. that's copying. art is about ideas. thinking creatively, not just taking something and calling it you own. I look at pictures for references. I look at the pose, the way the body works, the skin, whatever I am drawing. However, instead of just doing what i feel anyone can do (photo realism), I try and put my own ideas into it.
and indeed, one's work does show others their opinion and life, and I can see from your work that you like photo realism, and your life is merely a copy of a life that has already been led.

my life is a copy of another life, that's interesting, especially since most of my references are my own photos, and no one has ever used my methods before.

photo realism is art; you are thinking of copyright infringment.

no one has ever use your methods before? lol. you'd be surprised.
photo realism is art, but not artistic. they do not portray any sort of unique ideas, which is what art is all about. And taking your own photos and copying them? wow that's unique.
but what i'm trying to say is that it requires so much more skill and artistic skill and thought to draw an image from your brain or from moving models, not from a photo. an photo is just too easy. it's the easy short cut. it's more challenging to try and draw from memory.

lol. i don't post that work up here. i'm far too lazy to scan my work from school on here. i'm also far too busy, at least for now. so let's just say that we hold very different views, at least until i decide to post the work of mine you want to see. :P
